What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterised by differences in brain and cognitive development. Symptoms include greater difficulties with;
- forgetting things
- focusing and paying attention
- getting easily distracted
- learning and achieving at school or university
It may also include difficulties with
- hyperactivity
- managing their impulses
ADHD is common, with 6 – 8% of Australian children, and 3 – 5% of Australian adults experiencing persistent, impairing and developmentally inappropriate inattention, poor executive function, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity.
